桃園民宿 ~北橫仙境 拉拉山福緣山莊

A 2-night stay at Fu-Yam Tourist Home 福緣山莊 was a most memorable way to kick start our Taiwan holiday.

Located in the scenic Mt. Lala in the state of Taoyuan, this tourist home is surrounded by mountain rocks, forests and creeks.

There are quite a few units with different rooms. The one we were given is newly renovated. 2 big double beds and for the 5th person (that's me), I was given bedding for the floor but that's still quite comfortable.

We were picked up at the airport by the elder brother of Mr. Chung, the owner of Fu-Yam. (His son made such a nice welcome sign with my dad's name that we actually brought it home as a keepsake.)The journey took around 2-3 hours but it was worth it.

Air is great. We heard that Mt. Lala has one of the highest levels of oxygen among Taiwan's numerous mountains.

Situated just beside a creek, you can enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings by taking a nice dip.

Food (homecooked Hakka dishes by Mrs. Chung) were fantastic. You will be able to see from my food pics, which doesn't do enough justice.

The owners - Mr. and Mrs. Chung (鐘莊主), the elder Mr. Chung (who drove us around) and their helpers were really very friendly and hospitable. They arranged for us to visit the Lalashan Forest Reserve to see the ancient trees, and also visited a fruit farm to buy peaches (水密桃). On our 2nd night, they sat down to have tea and also shared with us their homemade spring blossom wine while we chatted under a starry night.
